MUMBAI TERROR ATTACK.......INDIA MOCKED.

Its really hard to believe what has happened in Mumbai by govt of India and by me. Its nothing but shameful that a country that has experienced terrror attacks more than US has an intelligence network of such a mocking level.Well if you guys were not having any idea of the situation apart from what is shown on TV then lemme enlighten you - firsthand after hearing such an incident , it was not until 10.30 pm the CM of Maharashtra (5 min after which he had to do a press meet). While it was late in the night after 1am that a decision of calling in NSG was taken!(as if they themseves had took control back). The NSG reported until later in the night around 2.30 am . As if situation was still not bad , the plane that was supposed to carry NSG was in Chandigarh ( and what about contingency plans?) it landed in Delhi later around 3.30 am in morning - IL 76 (JUMBO ) took an extra 1 hour to reach Mumbai . Around 7 am in the morning they reached the TAJ in BEST BUSES!!.....you have gotta be joking me.

The events were not enough , the Maha Home minister kept up with the humor by giving statements which even my 3 year nephew won't give after doing something wrong.

I have always observed and have occasionally ended my posts on a better note but today I don't wish to do same , rather I would like to add my voice alongwith all those 1 billion voices who have a question - can such incidents be averted or if their impact mitigated? When a younger brother of mine asked similar question - I had to give him ' I don't know look' but thats something our politicians are best at. I would like to call for action and at least now the incidents that have also dented the crediblity of PM Manmohan Singh dealt with utmost strictness. Its time that Indian PM takes Bootstrap leverage and politicians like Amar singh and Mr Lalu stop patronizing instituitions like SIMI.

ITS TIME TO ENACT.

Indian School of Business

ISB as they say was estd. in 2001 and found its rightful place in top 10 list of MBA colleges. It not only marched ahead in the young Indian minds but also for the corporate which nor only contains India INC in a short span of 7 years but also many foreign companies like JP Morgan , CITI etc.
Their success story is not only inspirational for any college but also for an individual. ISB  was the first Indian college which placed a student for a CTC in excess of  1 crore (international). So what is the mantra of revving up ahead of others . There can be several inferences that can be drawn , firstly to be succinct - the management spends  proportionate margins in college publicity( similar effort is also followed by IIPM -failed miserably ) and secondly  the courses are targeted for high potential markets. These points serve as homilies not only for students but also for the visiting corporate houses. Since the people going to ISB are ones who give GMAT . In addition to this ISB has a minimum eligibility criteria of 3 years of work experience therefore a good exam and a high eligibility criteria  beckons its rapport. Thus its the 'facts' bellowing its popularity.

I also come from a college which is having MBA as one of the offered course , but it almost seems derelict by the management. No promotional activities undertaken and  its like a lake infected by water hyacinth - slowly dying. Only promotional event is the entrance test! While the administration still remain blissfully oblivious and living successfully with a dearth of vision , its directly the student's responsibility to undertake and organize good events. Negligence as they say can be ' an ugly thing'. That is I think are shortcomings when college is propelled by staff which looks like a minister's group. I would apologize to IIPM for being harsh on their publicity stint 'world tour + free laptop'- at least nothing is better than something. Wait! I didn't mean to say that IIPM is too bad all I am saying is ISB is very good.

While more or less of this article was dedicated to a  'maverick' college , it also reflected some nebulousness of some less superior colleges and how it can have enfeeble effect on its denizen.

HEY !! I am just a reveler.

23andme - invention of year for 2008

Anne Wojcicki, co-founder of 23ndme is wife of Sergey Brin and is also a noted brains behind one of the most appreciated inventions of 2008 infact TIME magzine says its the best of '08. Unlike her husband's office in California - 23andme has a small office and had to raise some venture capital for it to move ahead. Well when you are in a great company, the investors wont be small . Some of names include Rupert Murdoch ,Trumps and Warren Buffet.

She pursued her studies in biology and finally became a Health- care Investor. Some of her entrepreneurial traits were well amplified after the marriage and finally launched her 1st $399 product online aka "23andme" . This is a genealogical product that examines your saliva sample and tells you as many as 90 traits like baldness to blindness which can be there and can be passed onto your children. She is young and pregnant and doesn't hides the fact that their child scheduled for later this year has between 20 to 80% chances of getting Parkinson's disease while Sergey has 50% chances which was also verified by more stringent clinical methods.

Well recently President Bush signed a bill stating that such products cannot be used by insurance industry people before the insure anyone. More over its also facing a bit of agitation over the matter that it can cause specific hiring in MNC's and a similar effect in Army or other armed forces. I don't know how much is that going to help but one thing is for sure that with a mammoth backing of $ 8.9 million  behind her , Anne won't loose hope.

According to her , the real plan is to amass all such reports and develop a repository of information which can help identification and finally eradication of such diseases. The picture sure looks dim for immediate  glory but none of the facts enervates her and contention is its use and position in future.

Cometh the moment cometh the WiMAx.

Here comes the Wimax technology to India. Its no different than 3G and its foray on Indian soil prior to its competitor  3G will capsize the latter plans. The WiMAx forum chairman Ron Resnick is in no mood of competing over the  "bandwidth" - both spectrum wise and user wise. The only one to start work is TTL , which has finished the division of work over many circles all over India. Companies shouldn't overlook the possibility in the entertainment sectors with the advent of PSPs , XBOX PS3 etc. - most of the online gaming sector is up for grabs. But the bone of contention is its similarity in speed with 3G. The internet access is going to be more or less same with both the technologies and wimax entering first might just sours the plans. Prima facie is 3G is going to struggle really hard and the 'valley of death ' in its initial period will prove difficult .

There is a little relief that comes to rescue of 3G is that the major phone players like Nokia and SE have phones ranging from 7000/- to 10,000k . But the grapevine says that 3G was not successful in the west (although work on 4g has started).

Although wimax forum formally says '3G and wimax area complementary technology'- but the short and long of it is waiting to be seen.

Nuclear Arsenal of Hitler

An astonishing revelation by History channel says that Germany was a mere 11 days away in executing a holocaust on San Francisco. The bomb technology was not as 'explosive ' as that of US or UK but was still had a potential to kill people by irradiating them to nuclear dust. Knowing about what Hitler did with Jews , Einstien  left Germany and went to US. While all the scientists were buy in making better tanks and other decisive weapons , a group of scientists both in US and Germany was keenly experimenting on radioactive materials.
Some breakthroughs  were achieved by the well known Nobel laureate Hisenburg( yes of the "uncertainity principal"!!) but it seems that either he was too sinister planning a bomb or there was a conscience inside of him that kept him against it. He was the unofficial head of the nuclear plans of Germany. But Hitler had some ideological differences with his 'cliques' in this matter, he still thought of a gun and a tank asa faster method of winning a war (motivated by the "blitzkrieg" ). While much was not done for such ambitious project, some of the senior scientists thought it as a chance for developing a future weapon and thus carried on their hard work. Two years on and they had some concrete results with them but constant espionage by some british military personnel and persistent  effort by US  to make a nuclear bomb added with paucity of funds deterred their efforts.

While the action was reaching its climax a new counterapart of German arsenal emerged, an A4 missile ( evolutionary  ICBMS). While Germans were way ahead of Alliance forced in missile systems (work was done at SKODA WORKS aka SKODA motors - of laura and octavia fame). This resulted asa major setback for Alliance forces and finally US started the "Manhatten Project" in order to beat the opposition's plans going ahead at unrelenting pace. But because the Alliance had finally put a full stop to any nuclear program , Germany sent a U boat to Japan loaded with the fissile material . Although simultaneously the ocuurence of  D-DAY  followed by Hitler's suicide pulverized their stamina to go any furthur. A U boat carrying more than a tonne of uranium was caught on New hampshire by USA . Thus stopping a catastrophic chain of nuclear warfare. But since US became suspicious of Japans plans and also to teach them a lesson of backstabbing (pearl harbor )  , a B29 bomber plane deployed nuclear bomb on Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 3 days. Rest is clear to the world .
The  German scientists soon moved to either Moscow or Washington , completing what they had started and igniting cold war between US and Russia.

The bone of contention is that scientists like Hisenburg , Niels Bohr( of bohr experiment ) and famous Einstien were also a major players in the effort. Its hard to point at the thespian among them.

do you know......

That Ian Bell was spelling jelly beans around pitch while Indian batsmen were batting in order to break their concentration! Well what do we  say to it- everything is fair in love and war.

That Miandad had a great spat with Lillee that Miandad lifted his bat to , to ..to....'kill him'?

That Ian Botham was an avid drug addict and drinker. He was known for his occasional appearance in British tabloid. This also adds up to his brawl in Australia for which he was even arrested. Man , what a drag!

Tht Darryl Hair is racist! Yes , he no balled Murli 7 times during a test match in Australia and that he has done same with him in Sri lankas tour of Australia. Inzamam finally helped cricket by removing such a blob from scene when he complained and even went under trial.

That Hair wanted USD 5 LAKH for retirement from ICC.

That our Mr great Greg Chappel made his brother to bowl an underarm delivery. Disgusting! Cricket's Great Richie Benaud termed it as an awful moment on pitch that took place ever.

Scavangers of night.`

Going by the title one might thinks that I am going to spook you guys out , answer is not really' but I might just shake your inner self. It was a recent diwali night and I was watching the view ...the sky it was beautiful and picturesque. There was the Diwali 'pooja' going on (I am agnostic!) and the mantras decoded as - 'on this day of diwali ,oh! Goddess please come to our houses and dwell here for rest for eternity'. "REALLY" , I thought in my mind watching a boy down on street , a scavenger . He was continuously rummaging through the garbage at the end of the street. Well my eyes shifted from the 'sky' to 'ground' and I started to think- these despised children don't have a conscience or instincts maybe for crackers. Thoughts like these make even the festive night morbid and an apprehension develops in my mind what if I had to share the same fate. My grandparents always told me that people who are poor are those who pay for their misdemeanors from their previous lives.
"Yeah !! right" , now I think that we need to have a soft corner in our hearts for such people and I respectfully disagree to the lessons taught by elders.

At the end of the day I gave away a packet of rockets to a slum dweller feeling that It might not change way Diwali is celebrated for him but this year , just for a change, let him enjoy.

saturday blues!!

My ideas of writing a blog is to tell something amazing after I have read something. Most of the inspiration comes from good newspapers such as ET or magzines like BT. Writing keeps my mind afresh and made me to absorb more , well here the reason of my saturday blues. Since there is no ET or BT (no its not science but names of popular print media) I was feeling super guilty and to excerbate the matter , I had an exam.
Well well the blues are here only for a day but exams are there for a week (sounds like an eternity to me). So through this article I would love to ask -"what all things to pursue when u feel the blues!!".

Taj at Re 1

Please dont make fun of me or this blog but it awfully true that the latest evaluation of India's heritage and one of the 7 wonders of this world stands at Re1 (entrance plummeted to 750/-). This comes from the fact that there is a "Transperent system " of accounting in India and since rules were made for everyone ( Shahjehan is no exception!). Does this means that a 'common man' can buy it! Well the answers understanably "NO" because there is a 'volte -face ' in terms of buying heritage property. This evaluation comes from the 'accountants of India' but still there is still a clause - which overwrites everything else (even re. 1) is that government hasn't decided out on 'how to evaluate such kind of structures' for auctioning .
Thanks to such remarks , it went out of 'my' reach and made its buyout a parlous task. Hope it hasnt comes under the vigilant scanners of India Inc.- else soon we could have seen a whole lot of things associated with it - SEZ etc, Who knows a subhiksha maybe!

Not Again!!!!

Its that time of the year where there are countless "summits" and conferences!! I am made to think-' whats good in all this'. Then the reason comes to my mind in none other than BN( BUSINESS NETWORKING). Recently there is a Computer MNC which conducted a similar affair, but reading the review and contents of meeting in detail it seems as if the motive is achieved by mere display of eloquence of speech. This might just helps in impressing others and somehow is a good approach of attaining the coveted BN but these meetings should prove as a chance of introspection and rethinking organisational delinquencies. The 'gurus with gumption ' should patronize an acumen for the organisation - while none seems to happen that way.
For example - Dell corporation had a meeting to discuss ' need of virtualization' and ' making the data center green'. But the column a day later reads- ' need of virtualization - problems still remain' while nothing was specifically written for the latter. This gave me an impression that it might be the case that the trade-off of such an affair carried out at such behemoth scale is some where lousy and cumbersome. (While 100s of managers attended the meeing).

Mitigation or aversion?

After hitting banks and some PE players , the rumble in the pockets of salaried class comes free with eluding salaries. All one can say is"hope for the best".While the Indin incumbents still thrive to make 'common man' understand that it still to hit the Indian markets. It sounds partially true but my observant insight doesn't gives me the same reason - Jet-kingfisher fiasco, subhiksha and small retail chains like 6ten closing and cutting staff ( such events are not even reported), Indian economy not getting hit doesn't looks a promising scenario.
While majority of the damage is in european countries but market researchers believe that elusive potential in Asia- Pacific region will prove to be the final resort for most of them - like India and china being the final ground or investing in Hong Kong and Thiland (growing at rates better than India) might prove to be a fruit for investors in long run. I say comparing India with USA ( DOW at $2.68 trillion and BSE at $325 billion) is a diktat.
